About the Library

Info

The Library System of Birbhum Pharmacy School, Birbhum, WB comprises of a Central Library and collectively supports the teaching, research and extension programmes of the Institute.

The Central Library houses over 10,000 documents including 5732 books, 2000 e-books, 150 thesis, 100 journals, 2000 videos, etc. in the field of Pharmaceutical Education and Research.

All operations are computerized with Koha library management software offering web access to the catalogue. The library is a pioneer in adopting emerging technologies, focused on fulfilling user requirements through innovative services.

It is also a member of the National Digital Library of India (NDLI) with 6000+ registered users. The collection includes daily newspapers and 50 periodicals/journals. Users can access 8 dedicated computers with internet for digital resources.

All students, faculty, and employees are entitled to membership. Alumni and retired employees can also apply. The library currently has ~10,000 members.

Borrowing Rules

Important
  • The readers should check the books thoroughly for missing pages, chapters, etc. while getting them issued.
  • No book in damaged condition will be accepted from the users on return. Damaged books will have to be replaced with new books by the borrower.
  • Reference books, Pharmacopoeas, Thesis, dissertations, CDs are not lent out of the library.

Loss of Identity/Library Card

Notice

The loss of Smart patron card should be reported to the Institute Counter of the Library with a copy of GD at local police station. The Institute will issue duplicate card with a fee of Rs. 200/. Borrowers shall be responsible for any loss or misuse of their original/ duplicate card.

  • General books are issued to all eligible members as per their entitlements.
  • Reference books and bound volumes are issued to members with special permission. Please contact Incharge, Reader Services/ Librarian for obtaining permission.

Note: General books are issued or returned on days and timings mentioned above (except on holidays) at the circulation counter, however, books can be borrowed/ returned using Manual library card/ Smart card from the self-check-in/ out kiosk till the library.
